decibel filter (B) (dB(B))
The volume weighting is performed with different frequency weight ings. The difference between the individual weightings, A-Weighting, B-Weighting and C-Weighting lies only in the filter characteristics.
While A-Weighting uses 40 phon as the reference volume, B-Weighting works with a reference value of 70 phon and is thus designed for higher volumes. As with the other sound measurements, C-Weighting also uses filters upstream of the sound level meters to simulate the anatomical characteristics of the human ear and the hearing characteristics.
