A decision support system ( DSS) is a computer program that analyzes, prepares and presents business data in a clear manner that makes it easier for management and employees to make decisions.

The information collected and prepared by a decision support system concerns business-related data such as sales of individual products, comparative data with previous periods, averages, labor costs, and other business metrics. EUS systems can filter, interpret and evaluate the data, they can perform model calculations with assumed values and make forecasts. The results of decision support systems can be calculated by artificial intelligence( AI) and supported by graphical presentations.

Decision support systems can be used in technical fields, management, logistics, administration, and many other areas, such as health-related decisions. For example, Clinical Decision Support Systems( CDSS) help physicians and nurses improve patient care.
