digital data communications message protocol (DEC) (DDCMP)

Digital Data Communications Message Protocol (DDCMP) is a byte-oriented, synchronous protocol developed by Digital Equipment Corporation. It supports half- duplex or duplex modes of operation between point-to-point links or multipoint links in a Digital Network Architecture ( DNA) network. The DDCMP protocol can be used for parallel, serial synchronous and asynchronous transmission.
