direct transfer application part (DTAP)

The exchange of messages between the mobile switching center ( MSC) and the mobile station is handled by the DTAP protocol (Direct Transfer Application Part). This protocol is used to transfer the messages for call control and mobility management ( MM) from and to the mobile station. The transmission is transparent for the Base Station Subsystem ( BSS).
