directory user agent (X.500) (DUA)

Directory User Agent (DUA) is the software that regulates the access of directory services according to X.500 with regard to the directory user.

The user of a directory service can be a natural person or a software element. The Directory User Agent makes its requests to the Directory System Agent( DSA), which answers them. Communication between the Directory User Agent and the Directory System Agent takes place using the Directory Access Protocol( DAP).
