A disclaimer is understood to be a disclaimer on the Internet. This can refer equally to the content of e-mails, websites and even linked websites. The purpose is to distance oneself from content, to warn against it or to prevent it from being passed on. That is why disclaimers are placed on websites or e-mails for legal reasons.
The disclaimer topic is to be seen in connection with a judgement of the regional court Hamburg from the year 1998, from which it results that website operators are responsible under circumstances also for links to other web pages. By means of a disclaimer, website operators distance themselves from the content of linked websites, which is contradictory in that links to other websites are set deliberately - usually on the basis of a recommendation.
The disclaimer covers the content of the online offer, links to other websites, copyright and labeling law and data protection. Disclaimer rely on confidentiality, secrecy and on prohibitions regarding copying and forwarding information to third parties.
