discrete logarithm (DL)

The discrete logarithm(DL) is a mathematical method that is used, for example, in the encryption ofdata according to the Diffie-Hellman algorithm ( DHA) and also in elliptic curve cryptography( ECC).

The DL approach is mathematically concerned with the fact that from an exponential function, it is extremely difficult to calculate back to the number or logarithm. The mathematical problem can be reduced to the following denominator: For Y = Xexpn the number "n" is to be determined, if "X" and "Y" are known. Thus, the logarithm must be calculated from an operation.
