disk to disk to cloud (D2D2C)

Disk-to-disk-to-cloud (D2D2C) is a method for hybrid backup in a cloud. In D2D2C storage, data is first collected in the backup server and copied to disks.

This technique used in disk-to-disk( D2D) for disk backups is complemented by subsequent backup to clouds. For this purpose, the backup data from the backup server is transferred in encrypted form to the cloud storage service provider. After the backup is transferred to the cloud service provider( CSP), the collected data is deleted from the disk to free up storage space for the next backup. The last backup is retained for any recoveries.

As an alternative to cloud storage, the user can also store the backup on the local hard disk or on connected external storage.
