Distributed Automation(DA) is a term from Smart Grids. DA technology is used for automatic monitoring and remote control of power distribution networks.

DA technology includes sensors, processors, communication networks, and switches that can be used to perform various distribution functions automatically. Distributed automation has been used for years to improve the reliability of power grids, their quality of service and operational efficiency. Among other things, the automatic distribution technology ensures the compensation of reactive power.
