document style semantics and specification language (Internet) (DSSSL)

Document Style Semantics and Specification Language (DSSSL) is a description language for the layout of SGML documents.

DSSSL includes the Document Type Definition( DTD) and the stylesheets adapted to the output media. The DSSSL style sheet is independent of the textual content and is used as a general template for a document type.

DSSL was adopted by the International Standards Organization( ISO) in 1996 as ISO Standard 10179.
