A dome is a special form of tweeterdiaphragm. A dome-shaped membrane is used to generate acoustic sound waves.

The dome is the drive unit. It generates sound pressure by moving up and down in rhythm with the sound signal. Most tweeters use dome-shaped diaphragms. Soft domes are made of a fabric - often silk - while metal domes are made of a light metal such as aluminum or a metal alloy.
