earth reference point (ERP)

In electrical power supplies, the Earth Reference Point( ERP) is usually the reference point for the protective earth conductor and the neutral conductor, since they are related to each other in terms of potential.

Under certain conditions, the neutral conductor can also be used for grounding equipment. If current flows through the protective earth, dangerous voltages may be present on the housing, causing electric shocks when touched. Therefore, when installing protective and neutral conductors, the applicable electrical codes must be strictly followed.

If an enclosure is connected to the neutral conductor, appropriate care must be taken and care must be taken to ensure that the voltage level cannot rise above the earth potential.
