egress
- Egress stands for outgoing. In frame relay, egress refers to data packets that are transferred from one frame relay network to another. Egress refers to the traffic leaving the network.
- Egress LabelEdgeRouters( LER) are edge routers that may be equipped with a filtering function to monitor traffic. A filtering function for incoming data packets is ingress filtering, and for data packets leaving the network it is egress filtering. In Multi-Protocol Label Switching( MPLS), the label edge routers are the routers that remove the labels added by the ingress label edge router and forward the IP packets.
