Electronic Data Switching System (EDS) is the generic term for various electronic data switching systems.

The electronic data switching systems are the successors of the electromechanical switching technology, which worked with lever rotary selectors or with relay technology. As far as the electronic switching systems are concerned, they can be divided into systems for line switching, data packet switching, memory switching and message switching according to their switching technology.
