electronic learning (eLearning)

E-learning is the generic term for all forms of electronically supported learning. It is the interactive communication between a knowledge-conveying program and a learner. This is usually an individual.

The learning forms of e-learning include all methods ofcomputer-, network- and satellite-supported interactive knowledge transfer. These include telelearning by means of interactive television, CD-ROM or magnetic tapes, computer-based training( CBT), Internet or intranet-basedweb-based training(WBT), webcasts and webinars.

Important characteristics of e-learning, besides the interaction of the learner with the learning program on the computer or web server, are multimedia and learning control. From the perspective of the teacher imparting the knowledge, e-learning becomes e-teaching.
