electronic serial number (CDMA) (ESN)

The Electronic Serial Number(ESN) is a 32-bit identification number for mobile terminals in non- GSM networks.

Together with the Mobile Identification Number( MIN), it identifies the subscriber of a mobile network. The ESN number is assigned by the manufacturer. In GSM networks, the corresponding number is the International Mobile Equipment Identity( IMEI).

Since 2006, manufacturers have been moving from the Electronic Serial Number (ESN) to the Mobile Equipment Identity( MEID).
