electrostatic discharge association (ESDA)

The Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESDA) was founded in 1982. It is a non-profit organization with over 2,000 members worldwide.

The goal and task of ESDA is the prevention of electrostatic discharge( ESD) and the associated damage to components, assemblies and equipment. The initially defined tasks were later expanded to include textiles, plastics, cleanrooms and workplace design.

The ESD Association develops standards, defines workplaces, such as the Electrostatic Protected Area( EPA), informs about new developments and certifies corresponding products, materials and measuring equipment. Among other things, it has defined the various classifications for the Human Body Model( HBM), Machine Model( MM) and Charged Device Model( CDM).
