element management layer (EML)

The Element Management Layer (EML) is a logical layer of Fault, Configuration, Account, Performance, and Security Management( FCAPS) in Telecommunications Control Networks( TMN).

The EML layer manages the network components. The EML layer abstracts the functions of the components. These include, for example, detecting faulty devices, measuring device temperature, collecting statistical data for cost accounting, and performance statistics.
