error second (ES)

The error second(ES) is a quality criterion for digital transmission and is specified in ITU-T G.821. It is the period of one second (s) within the usable transmission time during which one or more bit errors are detected by measurement. If no error seconds are detected, this is referred to as error-free seconds( EFS).
