escape character (ESC)

Escape Character (ESC) is a control character for code switching, which is used to form further control functions. The meaning of a defined number of subsequent bit combinations is changed. The ESC control character belongs to the control characters for code expansion and occupies the decimal number 027 in the ASCII character set, hexadecimal the 1B, it can also be triggered via the Esc key on the keyboard.
