expandable resilient networking (3COM) (XRN)

Expandable Resilient Networking (XRN) is a technology developed by 3COM for distributed core networks that no longer relies on a central control point but is based on the principle of aggregation.

In the Expandable Resilient Networking (XRN) principle, multiple connections can be aggregated into one logical connection for the purpose of performance enhancement. The XRN concept is characterized by scalability, high redundancy and availability.

In the 3COM solution, a high-performance, scalable core backbone is implemented from the network management via the core switches.
