fast information channel (DAB) (FIC)
The Fast Information Channel (FIC) is one of the three main channels in the DAB data stream, along with the Main Service Channel( MSC).
While the Main Service Channel contains the audio payload, the Fast Information Channel carries control and decoding data. The FIC data stream is divided into 256-bit long data blocks, the Fast Information Blocks( FIB), in which service and management information is transmitted. This is management and configuration information of the Main Service Channel, Multiplex Configuration Information( MCI), and information about additional services as well as station names and traffic information transmitted in the Traffic Message Channel( TMC).
