Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is a method of determining the safety and reliability of products and equipment.

In Fault Tree Analysis, problems and faults that occur can be analyzed under the conditions in which they occur. The causes of failures can be identified and the probability of recurrence can be estimated. Fault tree analysis originated in aerospace engineering, but is used to evaluate the safety of plant and equipment.
