gate controller (GC)

The Gate Controller (GC) is a component for packet-oriented voice communication in broadband cable networks. The Gate Controller monitors the data traffic of the individual end subscribers, controls the end subscriber's access to the IP network and prevents unauthorized subscriber access. The Gate Controller is usually integrated into the Call Management Server ( CMS).
