gigabit router

Gigabit routers have throughput rates in the gigabit range and were developed for the carrier market. They can be used in conjunction with ATM switches and are usually equipped with interfaces for ATM and Packet over Sonet( PoS). Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet open up further application possibilities for Gigabit and the even more powerful Terabit routers.
