global beam

Global beams are antenna beams from parabolic antennas that irradiate up to one third of the earth's surface.

Global beams can only be transmitted by GEO satellites, since only they have a sufficient distance from the earth's surface. The advantage of global beams over spot beams lies in their extremely broad radiation characteristics, the disadvantage in the low field strength received by the receivers on Earth. Accordingly, the receiving equipment must be highly sensitive.
