global service point (GSM, UMTS) (GSP)
The location-based services (LBS) offered in mobile communications networks depend on the traffic density in a particular area.
If the traffic density is sufficiently high, the location-based information is broadcast via Local Service Points( LSP). If traffic density in the countryside is low, a corresponding link may be missing; the functions of the LSP point are then taken over by the global access points, the Global Service Points (GSP). These additionally take over the various localization techniques.
