global standard one (GDS) (GS1)

Global Standard One (GS1) is a non-profit organization that develops global standards to increase the efficiency of cross-company value chains.

The standards developed by GS1 include the European Article Number(EAN), the Electronic Product Code( EPC), webEDI, Global Data Synchronization( GDS) or the Global Trade Identification Number ( GTIN).

The GS1 organization has more than 100 regional societies that deal with regional requirements. In Germany , it is GS1 Germany that takes care of new technological applications and offers solution support to companies.
