high performance routing (SNA) (HPR)

High PerformanceRouting (HPR) is a powerful routing method that can adapt to increasingly complex network structures. HPR routing is for data transport in packet and cell-based networks. It is a modification of the SNA architecture and uses functions of different protocols such as Advanced Peer to Peer Networking( APPN), Frame Relay and the IP protocol for this purpose. HPR has all the capabilities of APPN, but in addition can adapt particularly fast networks, especially ATM networks. HPR achieves this through a high- performance intermedia routing method and an adaptive end-to-end flow control mechanism.

HPR is based on Rapid Transport Protocol( RTP), Automatic Network Routing( ANR) and ARB congestion control, Adaptive Rate-Based Congestion Control.
