high voltage direct current converter
An HVDCplatform is a transformer platform on which high-transformed, three- phase AC voltage, for example from wind turbines, is converted into DChighvoltage for high-voltage direct current ( HVDC) transmission and transmitted via HVDC lines.
HVDC platforms, to which entire offshore wind farms (OWPs) are connected, are powerful converter platforms for converting AC high voltage into DC high voltage of several hundred kilovolts (kV). Such HVDC platforms can support outputs of several gigawatts( GW).
The reconversion of the DC high voltage into AC high voltage for feeding into overhead lines takes place in converter stations, where inverters ensure the conversion of the DC voltage into AC voltage.
