home gateway unit (GPON) (HGU)
The Home Gateway Unit (HGU) forms the Optical Network Termination(ONT) in Gigabit- PON( GPON). It delivers IP-based services such as Internet telephony( VoIP) and Internet television( IPTV).

The HGU unit is designed for families and small apartments and offers ports for Gigabit Ethernet, WLAN and several USB interfaces.
The Home Gateway Unit (HGU) is installed in the home and can be placed on a desk or mounted on a wall. Data traffic is transmitted via a single optical fiber between the Optical Line Termination( OLT) and the Optical Network Termination (ONT)
