hybrid CWDM/DWDM

There is a gap between Coarse Wavelength Division Multip lexing ( CWDM) and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing ( DWDM) in terms of transmission technology and costs, which is closed with Hybrid CWDM/DWDM. While only a few transmission links can be set up in parallel using CWDM, but the technology is comparatively inexpensive, several hundred transmission links can be implemented using the more cost-intensive DWDM technology. With the hybrid CWDM/DWDM technology, an optional path is taken which provides for a migration from the less expensive CWDM to the more comprehensive DWDM technology.
