hybrid router

The hybrid router, also known as a bridge router or brouter, is a composite of bridge and router; it is essentially an extension of the multiprotocol router( MPR).

In terms of function, the hybrid router routes incoming data packets. Packets that cannot be routed, for example because the corresponding protocol is not implemented in the router, are forwarded or blocked according to the bridge function.

Incoming data packets are processed using the store-and-forward method. The control information for the address and the protocol is read out, then the buffered signal is routed or forwarded in bridge function, depending on the decision.
