indian ocean region (sat com) (IOR)
The satellite positions of GEO satellites are assigned to international regions. The assignment knows the Atlantic Ocean Region( AOR), the Pacific Ocean Region( POR) and the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). In the latter, the satellite position is over the Indian Ocean.
This orbital position, located at 60 degrees east longitude over the Indian Ocean, is occupied by geostationary satellites such as the Intelsat satell ites, which are used to switch international communications links between Russia, Europe, Africa, India and China.
