infrared bus (IrBUS)

The infrared bus(IrBUS) is intended to support wireless communication between peripherals and consumer devices as an alternative to other wireless technologies such as Bluetooth or ZigBee.

The approach of the infrared bus (IrBUS) with infrared LEDs goes beyond the point-to-point connection and is not intended to replace data cables between individual peripherals, but to emulate a network structure with servers and clients. Included in this concept are not only computer peripherals but also household appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators or microwave ovens, as well as consumer electronics devices such as televisions, video recorders or DVD players.

The specifications for the infrared bus provide for a distance of 7 meters and a data rate of 75 KB/s.
