infrastructure to infrastructure (traffic) (I2I)
In modern traffic control, the traffic situation is derived from real-time traffic information( RTTI). This is information that motor vehicles exchange with each other and with infrastructure components such as roadside units( RSU) or intelligent roadside stations( IRS).
However, the infrastructure components are also in contact with each other and exchange information about the traffic situation, congestion and traffic accidents. This infrastructure-to-infrastructure (I2I) communication takes place via wireless point-to-point( P2P) connections in which road signs or lampposts serve as relay stations.
The infrastructure components receive their information from the driving data of the motor vehicles, which transmit, among other things, their driving speed, driving direction and the time to the infrastructure components, which transmit it to the next infrastructure points.
