international code designator (OSI) (ICD)

  1. International Code Designator (ICD) is an international organization that registers the ICD and is maintained by the British Standardization Institute. The ICD represents a field two octets long. Among other things, the ICD identifier is used in the Network Entity Title( NET) address.
  2. InATM networks, the International Code Designator (ICD) forms one of two formats for the ATM address, the other being the Data Country Code( DCC). The ICD designator was developed by the ATM Forum for private networks and adapted from the subnetwork model. In this addressing, the ATM layer is responsible for mapping the addresses from the network layer into ATM addresses.
