international frequency registration board (IFRB)

The International Frequency Registration Board (IFRB) was an international body for clarifying technical issues in radio transmission.

Founded in 1947, the IFRB was concerned with the planning, registration and allocation of transmission frequencies and spectrum management. It maintained the Master International Frequency Register (MIFR) and, after the reform of the International Telecommunication Union( ITU), was merged with the Comité Consultatif International des Radiocommunications( CCIR) to form the ITU-R and is now called the Radio Regulation Board.
