interworking unit (IWU)

Interworking Unit (IWU) is a term from the OSI terminology. An Interworking Unit is a unit that connects two subnets, so-called subnets, by connecting to both subnets via a Subnetwork Attachment Point ( SNAP). Each attachment point is addressable via the local address in its subnetwork.
