layer 2 security (L2Sec)
The Layer 2 Security protocol (L2Sec) is intended to eliminate certain vulnerabilities that IPsec has in remote access solutions.
L2Sec has a larger overhead than IPSec and does not provide individual process or port security. With L2Sec, all data pack ets are packed into a tunnel, which is then secured as a whole.
L2Sec is based on recognized security standards and certificates and can be used for browsers, e-mails, database applications or terminal emulations. Layer 2 security is already functionally described by Microsoft in RFC 2716.
