leaf initiated join (ATM) (LIJ)

Leaf Initiated Join (LIJ) is a service feature ofATM networks.

The LIJ service feature can be used to extend an existing connection between end nodes by another end node.

This LIJ procedure is triggered by a Leaf Setup Request( LSR) from the new end user to the ATM network. The network responds with an acknowledgement in the form of a setup to the new subscriber. The new subscriber then sends the connect to the network, whereupon the new subscriber is indicated to the sending end subscriber with a New Leaf Announce.
