line driver

Line drivers are amplifiers that feed signals with an amplified signal level into transmission lines.

By boosting the level, the signal-to- noise ratio and the transmission quality on the transmission line are improved. Line amplifiers compensate for losses, especially on longer transmission lines, by boosting the level, thus ensuring a higher reception level on the receiving end.

Line amplifiers are used on transmission lines for analog and digital signals, for example in transmitter technology and antenna technology and in broadband cables, but also in audio technology for the transmission of signals at the lowest levels. In terms of internal impedance, line drivers are low impedance in order to ensure optimum matching to the low impedance transmission lines.
