lines per inch (lpi)

Lines per inch (lpi) or lines per inch is a quality rating for the resolution ofprinters or monitors.

Lines per inch (lpi) is a measure of graphic resolution. For monochrome printers, it is also a criterion for the representation of grayscale, which is achieved via screening. The characteristic value Lines per Inch is used relatively rarely, instead of it in practice the specification Dots per Inch( dpi) or Pixel per Inch( ppi) is used.

In metric units of length, lines per inch (lpi) are specified as lines per centimeter (L/cm).
