listen while talking (LWT)

Listen While Talking (LWT), like Listen Before Talking (LBT), is a basic rule of CSMA/ CD: If a station wants to send a data packet to a CSMA/CD network, the station first listens to the network before it can transmit. This listening is Listen Before Talking (LBT). Only after the transmission is complete, when no signals are being transmitted over the network, is the network available to stations willing to transmit. In addition, Listen While Talking requires the station to continue listening even during its own data transfer.
