Load management systems(LMS) control power consumption in smart grids. Such LMS systems are used for load management, which reduces peak loads for a certain period of time or temporarily postpones them to later points in time.

Load management systems thus prevent load peaks. They contribute little or nothing to energy reduction. The effect is temporary and short-lived. In order to be able to carry out load reductions, load management systems can interrupt the supply of customer devices that are under Direct Load Control( DLC) for a short time.
