loss of payload (LOP)

Loss of Payload(LOP) is an error message in wide area networks that indicates the loss ofpayload data.

With the LOP error message, the network component that noticed the loss of the payload informs the network management system that payload data has been lost on a transmission link. The Loss of Payload is generated by the corresponding network components and reported to the network management system.
