Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) is a technique designed to prevent interception of transmitter equipment.

The LPI technique relies on a wide variety of RF transmission techniques such as low transmit power, high transmit bandwidth, spread spectrum technology, frequency changes, and time hopping such as frequency hopping spread spectrum( FHSS) or time hopping spread spectrum( THSS). These techniques provide some protection against interception of transmitting equipment such as radar. Electronic equipment and intelligent receiver systems with signal processing provide more extensive LPI protection.
