many to many

The Internet knows different communication principles: One-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one and many-to-many. In the early days of the Internet, communication was essentially based on the one-to-one principle, whereas web conferences are based on many-to-many communication.

The classic e-mail from one person to another is an example of one-to-one communication. In contrast, one-to-many communication involves the transmission of information from one person to several or many others. Radio and television as well as blogs and microblogs are examples of this.

In social networks, Facebook or Xing are examples of many-to-many communication: Many users share their information with many other users. An exchange of information takes place between more or less equal users. Participants can be information givers or equally information providers.

In many-to-many communication, the distribution of information takes place in a technical environment, the social network. Known services for many-to-many communication are collaborations, chats, discussion forums, web conferences and wikis.
