maximum receive unit (MRU)

The Maximum Receive Unit (MRU) is the maximum size that the IP packets received on a channel may have. This transmission parameter is supported by some IP protocols. It is based on the fact that in a point-to-point connection between two peers, they negotiate the MRU parameter. The sender informs the receiving peer that it can send larger data packets than previously specified, or that the peer should reduce the data packet size.
