media center edition (Windows XP) (MCE)
Windows XPMedia Center Edition (MCE) is an operating system and user interface for media centers. The diversity in the program offerings and multimedia objects that are captured, managed and played back in media centers is adequately supported by Media Center Edition.
This ranges from the setup wizard and the various TV, video, radio and audio functions to the display of photos and program-accompanying information.
The television and video functions are based on the functionality of video recorders and also offer convenience functions for TV recordings and their management. Analog TV and digital TV are supported. The electronic program guide( EGP) is also part of MCE, as is the function of an audio jukebox in which audio files are stored in WMA or MP3. Captured audio files can be burned on CD or DVD burners.
Media Center Edition is controlled by the remote control, computer mouse or keyboard, with basic functions limited to a few.
